I wrote these words within the first week and a half of being in Romania. I’ve been sitting on these verses and this blog post for about a month, and every word of it still rings so true.

“I lay down and slept; I woke again, for the Lord sustained me.” Psalm 3:5 ESV

I read these words in the middle of launch. These words echo in my mind almost every day. It’s my prayer for my squad this month.

This month I have the opportunity to work with Hope Church in Craiova, Romania. They are a new church that is slowly growing. We have lots of different ministry opportunities with them which is really cool. We are able to partner with them in street evangelism, hosting worship nights almost every night, hosting youth events every week, people are working in admin, we have people on the squad working and helping them in their social media, people are working in kids ministry, there is just so much. And it’s been so great. I’ve met so many different people from the community and the church. God has been so evident during these last couple of weeks.

However, as there is lots of ministry opportunities, that leaves my squad absolutely exhausted by the end of the day. And as I find myself tired throughout the day or week, I find myself thinking “the Lord sustains me.” As I keep leaning into the Lord and resting in Him, in His Word, He will continue to sustain me. The only way I can make it through these long days is resting in the Lord. Whether that is physically resting and sleeping or it is sitting and reading Scripture.

Now, as I am out of Romania and in Albania, as I’ve been through a week of debrief and am about to enter a week of training, I see how the Lord sustained me last month. Although days were full and busy and I was so tired at the end of the day, I saw the ways God sustained me throughout the month. The times of reading Scripture whether by myself or with others, the afternoon naps, the moments of silence, the moments where I could just walk in the sunshine with the Lord. So while I was tired, the Lord was faithful and sustained me.

My prayer is that the Lord will continue to sustain me and my squad as we continue to partner with the global church. It may be difficult but the Lord sustains.
